Admissions at TSL Rehab

No lectures, no pressure — just a real conversation with our Wilmington team about what's going on and how we can help.

The Admissions Process

We know that picking up the phone or filling out a form can feel overwhelming -- especially when you are a young adult figuring things out or a parent watching your child struggle. At TSL Rehab, our admissions team walks beside you from the very first conversation to the moment you settle into your room on our Wilmington campus.

Step 1: Confidential Phone Consultation

Call (424) 447-0016 any time, day or night. You will speak with a real person -- not an automated system. We will ask about the substances involved, any mental health concerns, and what kind of support you are looking for. This call typically takes 15 to 20 minutes and is completely confidential.

Step 2: Insurance Verification

Give us your insurance details and we handle the rest. Our billing team contacts your provider, confirms your benefits, and explains your out-of-pocket costs before you commit to anything. We work with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, Medicare, Beacon Health Options, Molina Healthcare, Health Net, and many others.

Step 3: Clinical Assessment

A licensed clinician conducts a thorough phone or in-person assessment covering your substance use history, mental health background, medical needs, and personal goals. This determines whether medical detox, residential, or outpatient care is the right starting point for you.

Step 4: Arrival and Orientation

Once approved, most clients arrive within 24 to 48 hours. Our intake coordinators greet you at 809 N Avalon Blvd, complete your medical screening, introduce you to your treatment team, and help you get settled into your private room or shared suite. You will receive a printed daily schedule and meet peers who have been where you are right now.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does treatment actually take?

It really depends on you and where you are in your recovery. Medical detox usually runs 3 to 7 days. Residential treatment is typically 30 to 90 days, though some young adults benefit from a longer stay. Outpatient programs range from 2 to 12 weeks. Your clinical team will work with you to figure out the right timeline -- there is no one-size-fits-all answer here.

Do you accept my insurance?

There is a good chance we do. We currently accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, Medicare, Beacon Health Options, Molina Healthcare, and Health Net. If you are not sure about your coverage, just call us at (424) 447-0016 and we will verify your benefits for free -- usually within a few hours.

Is detox medically supervised around the clock?

Yes, absolutely. Our medical team -- physicians, nurses, and support staff -- monitors you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during detox. If medication-assisted treatment like Suboxone or Vivitrol is appropriate, your doctor will discuss those options with you. You will never be left to tough it out alone.

Can my family visit me during treatment?

Family involvement is a big part of what we do at TSL Rehab. Visitation happens on scheduled weekends, and your loved ones are also invited to participate in weekly family therapy sessions. We find that when families heal together, long-term outcomes improve significantly.

What if I have a mental health condition along with my addiction?

You are not alone in that -- most of the young adults we treat at TSL Rehab have a co-occurring condition like depression, anxiety, PTSD, or ADHD. Our dual diagnosis program treats both issues at the same time with coordinated psychiatric care and addiction counseling. Treating one without the other rarely works, and we have seen that firsthand over 7 years and more than 5,500 clients.

Can I use my phone during treatment?

You can, but during limited hours. We want you to stay connected with the people who matter, but we also know that constant screen time can distract from the work you are doing here. Your treatment team will explain the phone schedule during orientation.

What does a typical day look like?

Your day starts at 7:00 AM with a mindful morning routine. From there, you move into psychoeducation lectures, workbook exercises, individual counseling, group therapy, and creative sessions like Music Therapy or Somatic Experiencing. Afternoons include recreational time at our Yoga Pavilion, Nature Paths, or Aquatic Center. Evenings wind down with a Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention session and peer connection time. It is structured but not rigid -- you will know what to expect each day.

I am nervous about coming in. Is that normal?

Completely normal, and honestly, most people feel the same way before they arrive. Our admissions coordinators are here to answer every question you have, no matter how small it seems. Once you get here, you will meet other young adults going through the same thing, and that shared experience makes a huge difference. You do not have to have it all figured out before you walk through the door.
